Did someone miss Composr?

There are three "CMSs" that get all the coverage nowadays: Joomla, Drupal, and Wordpress. This is a virtuous circle for these products – coverage leads to further coverage, and it's up-up-up – but it's a vicious circle for other deserving projects, because the louder the coverage for competitors, the harder it is for the rest of us to get attention.

I'm not going to try and convince anybody here that Composr can run circles around our competitors. You can see the difference is like "night and day" with your own eyes from our feature page, from the docs, from our comparison page, from trying it out, and from the constant glowing reviews we get on our own forums from people who tried everything then found Composr (formerly ocPortal). Modern history is full of examples of superior products that became eclipsed for one reason or another, it happens all the time unfortunately.

What we am doing here is showing how you can do something very quick that will really help give back to the community, and help us grow. If Composr user's club together and make their voices heard each time someone omits Composr from a review of CMSs we can set things right. Reviewer's usually aren't intentionally missing us out, it's just they themselves find out about other products from other review's or recommendation's!

We don't need to match the popularity of big CMSs to be successful. Unlike most projects, we already have a sustainable model and are constantly growing. But by increasing our exposure we can grow faster.

In this topic moderators will post/emphasise links to place's where Composr deserves to be but is missing. What we'd like you to do is to make your voice heard on each occasion we make a post. Maybe this means e-mailing an author, or maybe it means posting a comment. Whatever it involves please bear in mind that we want to enlighten people not spam them – so it is critical that you don't just make the same points someone else has already made there.

Everybody who takes the golden opportunities in this topic to spread-the-word about Composr is morally entitled to join the 'Composr supporters' usergroup (anyone can join regardless, it's an honour system). Through this usergroup you get an increased quota of gift points!

So:
  1. Take one of our opportunities to spread-the-word about Composr, and make some people see the light (without spamming or being rude)!
  2. Go to the Composr supporter usergroup and apply to join!
  3. If you'd like to keep helping, set notifications on this topic.

If you'd like to tell the world that you rock (for supporting us), or if you've found another 'disgraceful' example of someone overlooking Composr in a batch review/recommendation, then please reply showing the case.

I work with Joomla and Wordpress. I still have couple of sites with joomla, but static.
I have 1 Joomla site for communitybuilding and use a component Jomsocial wich is realy expensive.

I pay everything from my own, and have no advertisements. Because… i hate :)

Composr is new for me. Not real, i use ocportal before for testing.
Composr is nice, but can use a bit of customising. Its a full package, and for some maybe to full.

For me its perfect. Realy perfect.
I would like to strat translating for dutch, because its not complete.

I also like to see that mobile will be optimised. Because buttons are a bit ugly. To big, and take a lot of space.

But for me, Composr is a 9/10

Thanks to devs for this wonderful software.

Thanks for the feedback :).

We're cutting down on a little bloat with v11, removing the following addons: bookmarks, staff, supermember_directory, tester, collaboration_zone
We're also releasing our hybrid-mode responsive/mobile-mode default theme, which will have many improvements for mobile users. It'll also be a lot easier to test due to the responsive design element, no need to keep flicking between mobile/desktop-mode. But it'll also remain optimised on mobile-mode, so mobile users don't have to download all the desktop styles too (like on normal responsive design).
I'm also considering making the gradients, shadows, and curved borders, of the default theme optional - for those wanting more of a flat theme. We have a nice new theme options system that makes the default theme more configurable, so I can add it to this.
We're also reimplementing all the icons as SVG with flat design (around 600 images in total actually).

I think that covers most of the room for improvement you mentioned :). Lots more happening too, but it's a long process, it's going to be a big release and a lot of testing is going to be needed.

I've asked Rajesh to get in touch with you regarding Dutch.

Too early at the moment but you can have a play with the feature__hybrid_responsive github branch if you like, which is focusing on the responsive-design changes. It should install and run quite stably.
In the v11 branch we have merged everything together now, but it currently needs a lot of work before its stable, and SVG icons are still in the design phase, and the flat-design CSS changes aren't done yet (although this should be quick as the theme options system is implemented for it).

So in short, we've finished most of the heavy lifting, but there's still a great deal of debugging and polishing needed.

I have not yet been able to try Composr yet (errors to sort out) but love your thinking and just a thought - if I can get through the installation issues I have, and create a webpage, my thoughts are to link all the software and other help I have received in getting the job done as a bit of a plug to all the visitors of my page.

I already have a few long time amazing businesses that I regularly put their links on my page - and believe that all who use your software could do the same. It is only fair :)

Trying to install 10.x.x (looking forward to release of 11.x.x )
