"You can also do like "a=This|b=That|c=Other" if you need the saved values to be different from the values displayed for selection."
I assumed this would work just like the standard country list…you select "United States of America" from the drop down and "US" gets saved in the database but "United States of America" is also displayed when you view the profile.
However, lets say I have a list with values default values "|ap=Apple|or=Orange|ba=Banana|le=Lemon". The pulldown looks as expected (full words). You select "Banana". The "ba" gets saved to the database but the "ba" is also displayed (instead of "Banana") when you view the profile.
Am I misinterpreting how this should work or is there a setup issue that I'm missing?

From the tutorial, I see this:
"You can also do like "a=This|b=That|c=Other" if you need the saved values to be different from the values displayed for selection."

In the hotfix description it says, " Support this via a new display_val=on field option."
For those who may be a little "slow on the uptake" like me, that means besides the changes to the php files, you also need to populate the Field options box as below. I missed that the first time through.

As always, great support from the Composr team!!
