I haven't posted my website as Europe’s proposed new copyright directive has thrown a spanner in the works, regards third party quotes and references. This may mean I will have to geo block all EU.

I don't think you'll need to worry about it that much. Don't get me wrong, the new EU copyright directive is concerning, but from what I understand the onus is on large content aggregators like Google or Facebook - to implement their copyright filtering, and to not show so much in news snippets that people won't click through. I think the real problem is there will be a chilling effect as the content aggregators have to have heavy-handed blocking of any user content their poorly-constructed automated filters have a problem with.
This Wikipedia article does a good job of showing the various exceptions which exist Directive on Copyright in the Digital Single Market - Wikipedia.

- If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying Composr on fun personal projects.
- If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.
