Dealing with nuisance members

Composr provides a number of ways to deal with the annoying users or the users who do not adhere to the site policies.

Currently the following actions can be taken against nuisance members,
1) Charging their points.
2) Ban them, or their user-name, or their IP address, or their ability to make submissions
3) Probation or Moving them to a restricted usergroup ( i.e putting them into a usergroup that requires validation of all forum posts).
4) Giving them a formal warning/verbal warning.

All the various punishment tools mentioned above are made available on one screen. This screen can be accessed from members' profile ("warn/Punish member" link in “Audit”).

1) Charging points – Points can be charged as a punishment by charging them for abuse, you can go to the points screen by visiting the member-profile and clicking the “Points” section tab, there you can see the area for charging them points and also state a reason why they were charged.

2) Ban them – Member can be banned from the site permanently for their actions, this can be done from the member-profile and visiting the "Warn/Punish member" link in “Audit”.

3) Putting the member in probabtion – You can put the member manually in to the Probation usergroup which will restrict their privileges to a good extent, and as a punsihment you can also extend this probation period from the “Warn/Punish member” page(mentioned in step 2).
It's a common practice to make *all* members with less than a certain number of points require validation of all forum posts (via permissions on usergroups in coordinate with the usergroup-based rank system).

4) Formal warning – You can provide a formal warning or a verbal warning to the user instead of banning them permanently, this will appear in the member's screen as an alert when he/she logs in next.

All the various punishment tools mentioned above are made available on one form named 'Add warning/punishment' form and that form can be accessed from the members' profile through "Warn/punish member" link in “Audit” (image_001.png).

The 'Add warning/punishment' form contains the options for all the above mentioned actions against a nuisance member.(image_002.png)

1) Charging points – Points can be charged as a punishment by charging them for abuse, you can go to the points screen by visiting the member-profile and clicking the “Points” section tab, there you can see the area for charging them points and also state a reason about why they were charged.(image_003.png)

2) Ban them – Members can be banned from the site permanently for their actions, this can be done by using the 'Add warning/punishment' form through 'Audit >> Warn/Punish member' in the member-profile page.(image_004.png)

3) Putting the member in probation – You can put the member manually into the Probation usergroup which will restrict their privileges to a good extent, this can be done by setting the 'Change usergroup to' field with 'Probation' in the 'Add warning/punishment member' form. And as a punishment you can also extend this probation period by setting the 'Set Probation' field in the form.

It's a common practice to make *all* members with less than a certain number of points require validation of all forum posts (via permissions on usergroups in coordinate with the usergroup-based rank system).

4) Formal warning – You can provide a formal warning or a verbal warning to the user instead of banning them permanently, this will appear in the member's screen as an alert when he/she logs in next.(image_005.png)
