Summary0002951: Content editing within overlays
DescriptionWhen managing content on the front end (eg. staff action links etc. on the front page of the website rather than directly in the Admin Zone or CMS zone), instead of making full page loads to these zones when a user requests adding/editing content, use overlays.

Example: I want to edit a page that I have up on my screen. Instead of having the edit page link load up the entire CMS zone and make a full page load, bring up the editing interface via. an overlay. It's a little bit quicker and more intuitive this way. And when the changes are saved, have the website refresh the page I'm on after the overlay disappears to show me my changes (include "action successful" top message).

Do the same for other things, such as adding pages, adding/editing gallery content, adding/editing categories, adding/editing events, basically for anything that the staff links on the front-end do.
Additional InformationThis is NOT meant to be a complete replacement for things such as the CMS zone. This is meant to be a quicker solution to content adding / editing via. overlays so the user does not have to leave the page and go to another zone to perform their action.

>>>YOU MAY WISH TO DISABLE OVERLAY DISAPPEARING WHEN USER CLICKS OUTSIDE OF IT (or at least warn and give the user a chance to cancel the action). Otherwise, accidental clicking outside of the overlay will result in loss of changes.

I'm not convinced on the benefits of this yet, but I think it is worthy of discussion.

Overlays are technically complicated, and not really mobile-friendly, adding this could cause more clunkiness and confusion than it would help in speed and intuitiveness.
It's also a risk with themeing as site themers would need to ensure they don't break the standard overlay mechanism in their theme.

I imagine a user finding an edit form via the CMS zone, and finding an edit overlay, and getting kind of lost due to the 2 different contexts for the same thing. In my mind having 1 way of doing any thing is overall simpler.

Ah didn't realize it would be complicated for themeing
