v11 entering beta status

The next release of v11 will be 11.beta1
Hello everyone,
I have some good news. I have been working on the upgrader for v11. It can now upgrade a standard v10 site with test content (without non-bundled addons) without critical failures. There are still some errors to work out.
However with this milestone reached, that means the next release of v11 will be "beta" to signify it is now possible to upgrade v10 sites. I originally planned the next release to be 11.alpha5. It will now be 11.beta1.
Of course, issues are still to be expected. And we recommend people do not upgrade live v10 sites to v11 but only use test v10 sites instead (and report any issues you find).
I anticipate 11.beta1 will be ready within the next week or two.

The core development team is no-longer offering it for free (unless it's a critical bug that breaks your entire site or a serious security hole). Please consider hiring me instead if you need v10 support or a non-critical bug fix. Or, ask the community in the forums!

v11 beta1 has been taking a lot longer than expected. There are numerous issues I've been trying to work out between the file and database integrity scans. I've also had to force the upgrader to always run in safe mode, and to change the workflow of updating non-bundled addons a bit, so old v10 addons do not break a newly-upgraded v11 site.
