Connecting to the Composr chat room

If you are familiar with IRC, you can also reach the Composr chat room on FreeNode ( chat.freenode.net ) with your favourite IRC client. It's important to note that FreeNode's IRC network uses a kind of security called SASL, so if you want to use an IRC client like HexChat or KVIrc or MIrc or Pidgin or Quassel or WeeChat or IRCCloud or Irssi, then you'll need to enable SASL in that client. Here's a link to FreeNode's own FAQ for using SASL with various IRC clients. Basically, to chat on FreeNode with an IRC client (app), you'll need to register your nickname on FreeNode with Nickserv. Once you've registered your nickname with Nickserv , you're ready to connect to FreeNode using SASL. That setting for SASL is found in the network configuration area of various IRC clients (listed above, and the How To for each IRC client is right here). You'll also need to add your Nickserv password in the same area. After that, you're ready to connect to FreeNode and the chat room Composr uses for questions, answers, and development.
