Summary0001246: bug in Giftr
DescriptionHello, someone just sent me a digital flowers gift and I noticed a bug in the notification email. His name is linked but it's an invalid link, doesn't go anywhere. Besides, I would think that for making it easy to reply to the gifter, the email notification should say, "To reply, please visit the private topic here", and link those words to the private topic.

I have performed a full review of the code, and made a number of refinements to pull it up to general Composr standards :).

Hello,

1) I noticed that the Giftr is no longer automatically creating private topics associated with a gift. Instead the email notification is saying "so-and-so has sent you a gift. To reply to so-and-so, you can open a private topic." This forces the recipient to create a completely new private topic.

2) Even if Giftr is fixed to automatically create a private topic again, I think the email notification should also give the option to directly reply to the sender in their mail client, if the recipient doesn't want to take the time to go back to the website and reply through a private topic.
I noticed that users have been trying to reply directly even though the notification says "please do not reply to this email". And so the replies are coming to me as webmaster.

This change was intentional, as the aim with the new notifications system was to unify all this kind of contact functionality.

We cannot allow direct replies to notifications for security reasons (email address leakage), but perhaps we can allow it in some specific cases. I'm taking a look.

I suspect the vast majority of users don't want to take the time to open a private topic to thank someone for a gift, so whatever we can engineer for allowing a super easy/quick reply, either in their mail client or through the website, will be most effective.

In v10 we will default the notification to a private topic, and also allow direct reply to this and select other notifications.

I didn't want to put this into v9 as it would risk adding bugs to the stable version.
