| Description | Instead of notification lockdown simply locking down notifications and forcing notifications to be what the admin chooses, also make it possible that admins can select which notification types users can have. An example situation where this might be useful is where there's an email limitation on the server, and so you only want to offer a specific notification type to have digest emails instead of immediate emails, but you want the user to be able to choose daily, weekly, or monthly. | ||||
| Additional Information | An idea on how this can be possible is in the notification lockdown settings, replacing all the check boxes with symbol dropdowns. Example... - means don't allow that kind of notification as an option, + means allow it as an option, and * means force that option. | ||||

It seems to me that 0005278 doesn't do what is described here, which people might want. Wouldn't a better approach be to make a new combined screen that let's you select "Forced On", "Free choice with Default On", "Free choice with Default Off", "Free choice with Inbuilt Default", "Force Off" for each option. Sometimes there would also be media greyed out, when the hook does not allow that media type (e.g. private topics cannot be notified to private topics). |

Patrick and I talked, and we were able to merge our ideas, which were a bit divergent. My previous comment above Patrick's reflects that. 0005278 will now be closed. |
