Summary0000274: Flash attachment uploader
DescriptionDisplaying all allowed file types for uploading may cause problems with windows environment in most Linux distribution using Gnome as graphic interface (not tested on KDE). Namely, the popup screen will cover the whole screen and sometimes restart Compiz window manager or cause screen flickering.

Even on Windows environment all types could not be seen because the control is much wider that the screen size.
Steps To Reproduce1) Create a new topic in forum (or reply to an existing one)
2) Click Attachment (be sure that flash uploader is used)
3) A popup window for selecting file is displayed covering the whole screen (or causing flickering or Compiz window manager restarting).
Additional InformationThe popup window displays about 60 allowed file types for uploading. If we set value in Admin zone > Setup > Configuration > Security options > Valid file types to much lower allowed file types (e.g. 5 or 6) everything works fine.

The simple uploader does not display all these values but only "*.*" instead.

I am aware that this is a problem with OS behavior at the first place, but we need to avoid it.

You may want to report this with the swfupload people. None of the developer team can code Flash, and the ideal solution would have to be done inside that (make it a bit smarter). The only other solution is to remove the file type filter entirely.

As for Gnome, yes, they need to change their UI a bit,

This is somewhat fixed in v8 because we'll have a new addon for not using swfupload.
