bundled addons missing for installation

I seem to be missing the option for installing some of the bundled addon's.
( ie shopping, ecommerce)
under Structure -> addons, there is no entry at all for these items.
On the filesystem, if i look in imports/addons, then the shopping.tar, and ecommerce.tar are there.
Is there some other config file i need to edit to allow these to be installed ?
Wishing everyone a happy 2018.
Chris

What was the original installation version of Composr / ocPortal?
Could you attach one of the TARs here so we can inspect it.
I suspect it is a legacy bug building the TARs, as we have had them in the past.
If you go to the upgrader, login, then go to "Transfer acrosss new/updated files", then generate a personalized manual upgrader – you should find a new set of imports/addons/*.tar files in the generated upgrader which you can upload (no need to upload everything else).

- If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying Composr on fun personal projects.
- If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Thanks for the info but it didn't quite work.
As the installation was already the latest at 10.0.12, then the manual upgrade did not do anything.
So what I ended up doing was doing a fresh install of composr an a sub site, then uninstalling all add-ons and i was then able to copy these into the .tar files over to the main site and that has worked well.
Thanks
Chris

However, you're saying the custom TAR upgrade file didn't contain TARs of all the addons? It should have, as that's one of the things it's useful for - it's meant to be able to do a very safe reset to the latest, include TARs.

The upgrade process literally won't delete any files unless you tell it to in the integrity step (by checking them off individually based on files it thinks maybe should not be there), so I'm skeptical whatever I'd say would be correct advise for you, as there's likely something else going on. More likely is somehow some files were moved or deleted by something external to Composr.
I noticed in another post you said the points system was missing. Can you confirm:
- You definitely had points installed before upgrading
- The sources/hooks/systems/addon_registry/points.php file no longer exists
The post I gave above about downloading the personalised upgrader is what I'd say again if truly addons have disappeared though.

Last edit: by Frank

- I really couldn't find any evidence points had been installed before. Only 1 file from it was there (lang/EN/points.ini), and the addon had been archived off to imports/addons/points.tar (so it could be reinstalled). The upgrader had correctly updated imports/addons/points.tar with all the latest files during the upgrade process. I could be wrong, but I really can't think how the points addon would have been uninstalled so cleanly given the regular upgrader process isn't in the business of uninstalling addons (and if it did, it would have logged it, and I saw nothing in the log). I think it was probably uninstalled back when the Setup Wizard was first run on this site.
- ocPortal tars like imports/addons/points.tar were not showing for reinstall in Admin Zone > Structure > Addons, because our upgrader doesn't rename mod.inf to addon.inf inside the tar files as per a small consistency change we made in v10. I have made it so the next patch release will recognise the v9 mod.inf also.
- My advice about the personalised manual upgrader was wrong because it just said it could not generate an upgrader from the latest version to the latest version. I had to fiddle the URL to say it was 'from' the previous version. Then it downloaded. And I was able to copy all the latest bundled addon tar files to the site to ensure the latest were available for reinstallation.
- Another issue though is those files in the personalised manual upgrader were in exports/addons instead of imports/addons, which we'll fix soon.
So Frank, you'll find all the non-installed bundled addons are now available for install from Admin Zone > Structure > Addons.

Chris you are great. Thanks for all you do. I didn't understand everything you said. So I will ask did I screw something up? or do something wrong?
From “Post #4,705”, 28th July 2018, 12:20 am
I don't think you screwed anything up per se. Actually 2/3/4 were my screwups. I do suspect you misremembered about points being installed though.
