As Comcode is meant to be as simple and compatible as possible we do allow the deprecated tags but convert them into non-deprecated equivalents.
It's not perfect as of course we are ascribing meaning to things that the Comcode author may not have, but likely validating markup is more important to people than a philosophical conversation about the meaning of tags, and those who want perfection can (and should) drop down to the level of HTML.
As with most things in web standards, it's a fight between pragmatism and purism.

- If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying Composr on fun personal projects.
- If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

It is true we use 'kbd' very broadly, probably more broadly than the spec intended. To me, it represents anything you'd type, rather than something literally the document is asking someone to type. So any kind of codename that is verbatim will be in 'kbd'. But we aren't using it stylistically, there is a semantic behind it.
