I've setup composr on a new site: surfsupnet.net and for some reason the banner ad link target is not _blank like it is on my other site afansite.net.

View the source code of: https://afansite.net/banner.php
View the source code of: https://surfsupnet.net/banner.php

The target="_blank" tag appears in afansite.net, but doesn't in surfsupnet.net

afansite.net is using a older version of composr which is 10.0.6
surfsupnet.net is setup on 10.0.9

When you click on the banner ad displayed at https://surfsupnet.com/index.php
It loads the page for the banner in the banner ad iframe which is causing an issue.

I look in the config settings for the banners and don't see any options to enable the target of the banner ad link to _blank.
Can you please point me where I can make this happen?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Mary,

Banners pointing to a local URL don't open in a new window, while banners opening to a remote URL will.

Just an attempt to try and best meet what users would expect.

If you like you can edit the BANNER_IMAGE template and change:
{+START,IF_NON_PASSED_OR_FALSE,LOCAL} target="_blank"{+END}

 target="_blank"

  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about Composr whenever you see the opportunity or support me on Patreon.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying Composr on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.
