Is there a way to hide an account?

I'm wondering if there is a way to 'hide' an account?  The reason I'm asking is because I have several 'test' accounts that I use to unit test permissions (and other related security settings) but I don't really want those accounts to appear as being online (when in use) or in the Usergroups listing under Social->Usergroups.  It would be extremely helpful if certain accounts could simply be tagged as Hidden -- similar to the way Usergroups can be marked as Hidden.  Is there a way to currently do this?

I don't think we have a way to do this. I'll add the suggestion to the tracker.

However, I can say that if you test an account using the SU feature, it won't be default show as online to anyone.
That won't remove it from the member directory and usergroup member listings but it's something.

  • If so, please let others know about Composr whenever you see the opportunity or support me on Patreon.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying Composr on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Oh… Actually, try unvalidating the member. If they are not validated then most users shouldn't see them but I do think SU will still work.

Thanks Chris.  I do use SU regularly but as you say that won't remove them from the usergroup member listing.  I'll try unvalidating and see how that works…but do appreciate you adding this suggestion to the Tracker as I think this has many use cases and would be a very useful feature to have.
