I am building my site at the mo, at some point i need some custom pages. I havnt looked into this yet, so the following maybe wrong.
The new page feature in composr, i think already has the HTML declaration, so cut and paste the rest of your page code into a new page.
The menu bar has a feature for editing and adding menus, this is where you can add your new pages, i have no idea about you tube. I expect there is some com code in the editor for it, if not i am sure you can add it. Give me a week or so and i should have tried this myself by then.
BTW as i said i am a newbie with this so i might be wrong…………

click on content and you get this screen, choose the square arrowed for pages

you will get this page, the way forward from here is dependant on how much you know about HTML ect, you can just pick/create a blank page or choose a template and replace the contents. For a noob like me, the template option would be best.

I chose usage but look through the template pages, you might find one that needs less editing for you. Or choose N/A and just go with a blank page. For this i am choosing 'usage' template, as shown next. DONT forget to give it a name in the box above the template drop down bit (the bit above my arrow)
I will call mine test_page

I had to decrease the screen size to fit it in the screen shot, but when you press add you get the following.

If you click on source (arrowed) it will turn the page into the HTML equiv, but before you do that double click on the bottom bit i arrow in the next pic.

Clicking on that bit brings up the following page of options (i guess you should also not delete that code block when you add yours, nor sure if it would hurt of not. anyway clicking on it gives you this page…

It has various options for which zone you want the page etc, its self explanatory. Change what you need (if anything) and click save.
Then click the code tab i mentioned and arrowed in pic 5, this gives you the raw HTML like this.

Also note just below the editor you have a range of other options. So i would change you code in HTML mode (cut 'N' paste), and leave the bottom comcode bit that you clicked on just now. Use the preview button to see if uits what you want.

As for youtube……… if after you change the HTNL and then unclick the code button, it will take you back to the normal editor view, when it that view, if you click the com code assistant button (red ringed blow) it gives you a add media option, this brings up a menu to add various media, its really simple,

clicking on it give you this menu.
Scroll down untill you get to the bit i have circled

click on media and get this, just fill out the form, there is more options in the advanced tab, i have opened the advanced tab to show all options.
Fill it out and press preview, if you like it then press save.

Hope that helps, i didnt create the page as i didnt have time, but if you get stuck give us a shout, i will be trying it out soon anyway. But hopefully that should get you on your way.

Its truly different, i am tip toeing around trying to build my site, frightened to anything or trying anything remotely 'out there', because as we know its difficult to do right? WRONG
I have never embedded a you tube vid in a page before, unless the software had a upload video button………
So my assumption was it would be difficult or scary to give it a go, what if my hours of hard work got ruined? I am starting to realise this is all unfounded with composr, you get to preview things before you commit to anything, it can walk you through most of it.
one thing i will say as a noob…………Some of the docs are written by people who do this stuff for a living, they say " oh you simply do X,Y,Z". I dont think they realise that some of us dont understand the technical language at times.
So as a kind of thank you to every one, as i build my sites, I will do noob pic tutorials for those old gits like me. Sure you super cool web builders wont need them, but if it helps someone get more from their site than they thought they could, then great i am happy.
I dont know how often i can post these up because they take me a long time, i am a two finger typer for a start!
But i will check the forums and if i see something cool i could use, i will try and do it, if i succeed i will pic post it step by step.
But please keep in mind, i am a noob. I dont work for OC and i am not a programmer/web designer, i am a Bio Chemist! and a simple user like many of you. So if i do something that helps you and saves you time and money, then please consider making a small contribution to OCproducts for this great program.
The amount is upto you, goto patreon or whatever and Give a couple £, it all adds up.
That way we all get great software and no one has to eat out of a dustbin

Cheers

I'm strapped for time but a few very quick points…
- You can just paste in a YouTube URL, it will automatically embed the video
- Anything unclear in the docs, I do encourage reporting an issue on the tracker (in the "Composr documentation" project). That's what it's for, so we can keep tuning them. Difficult for a technical writer to put themselves in a user's head, so help is appreciated.
- You can copy and paste HTML into the WYSIWYG editor. That probably is the best way to do it if it's primarily about keeping the content. There is support for pure HTML pages, but it's probably not worth the hassle tweaking and maintaining the alien plumbing of what was designed to be standalone code and file references.

- If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
- If so, please let others know about Composr whenever you see the opportunity or support me on Patreon.
- If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying Composr on fun personal projects.
- If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

I will go through the Docs, on the whole they are good, the bigger problem is how to breach the gap between complete novice (me) and those a bit further on.
If i find anything really confusing in the Docs i will put on the tracker, but i dont want to dumb them down too much.
I did the above in case it helps a google lander.

I didnt read the docs for that bit, i just had a look inside ACP, i didnt know you could paste the youtube directly, but would that give you the other options that the way above does?
The inline pasting is essentially a media tag with defaulted options. So yeah, using a media tag provides some additional control. Also I should have said pasting a link direct into the WYSIWYG can be a bit flaky, so I would generally advise doing it the way you mentioned.
