I moved server and now everything except the front-page is broken

I moved servers and now all my SEO url's are totally broken only the front-page works.

When users click the links to the other pages, they get a 404 not found page.

How do I fix this ?

Please advise.

You need to check quite a few things…

Are both the old and new server the same web server (e.g. Apache)? (E.g. if you've gone from Apache to nginx or IIS, .htaccess files will no longer work)

Did you copy over the .htaccess file? (Assuming you're using Apache)

Does the new server have ModRewrite? (Assuming you're using Apache)

Does the new server have .htaccess enabled ("AllowOverride")? (Assuming you're using Apache)

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying Composr on fun personal projects.

Thank you for the quick response.

The problem was that the .htaccess file wasn't uploaded. I uploaded it and now everything is working smoothly.
