Newsletter e-mail working, but not e-mail notifications

For some reason e-mails from notifications.php are not being sent by the server, although newsletter e-mails are being sent by the server. Compo.sr seems to think it is sending the e-mails though (looking at the log file for e-mails sent).
Any ideas why this could be?
Any tips for setting up the e-mail system? I've tried reading the tutorials but I don't feel like I've found comprehensive information on how the server needs to be configured.
Thank you,
-Jonas (www.paleo.ca)

A lot more information needed before someone could start to answer…
You are self-hosted or on shared hosting?
Your server is Windows or Linux?
Are you on a local hosted SMTP server (same server as web server) or remote relay?
Composr is configured to use it's own SMTP settings, or they are blank and PHP's mailer is used?
You have checked the spam folder?
You have looked at the SMTP server logs?

I thought I'd explain the problem (now that it is solved). I had been hosting multiple websites and I was using the SMTP address for one of the other websites (having just duplicated the settings). The address stopped working when I cancelled the domain name for that other site!
So, a simple mistake on my part! Anyway, I'm quite greatful to have such a powerful CMS at our disposal!
