This is an interesting one....and I haven't dug into it much. When uploading a picture (wherever), if that picture's filename has already been uploaded, it might error out (take this with a grain of salt because I have not had time to duplicate it yet, but I have noticed it on several occasions)

If I go to edit my profile on my Composr website, and I upload me.jpg (that's a picture of me), when it is done, it will show a picture of a different member (some gal that probably uploaded her own profile pic called me.jpg). Now, clearly, she is better looking than me and deserves to have her pic shown more than me (lol?) but still.

Hi,

I can't reproduce this, the code should be suffixing the filenames if there's a conflict and this is what happens when I test.

That said, if a user previously had a photo with some filename but changed it, and you viewed that photo at some point, it could still be in your browser's HTTP cache (or some kind of transparent proxy cache between you and the server). Try loading the image in a new browser tab and refreshing it.

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying Composr on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.
