cant install

No idea if this is intentional or not, but its really annoying. If you try and instal via softaculous, the chances are your goping to hit an error and give up.

I seriouslt cant believe this has been done on purpose, if it has then it needs a rethink. I have a password system, it works well and gets high scores normally on password scoring.

When you try and instal you get an error message that states…….

The password must contain one upper case, one lower case, one digit and one special character. Ok sounds fine by me, but does it litterally Mean what it says?? Surely you have made it insecure when you have basicallt told every hacker that composr admin password will have exactly 1 Upper case letter, One lower Case letter, one number and one special character!!

Surely it would be better to have this as a minimum and not meant to be literally 1 of each? Anything but the default passwrod dosnt seem to work and tgrows an error.

Take a look at the following screenshot, tell me what is wrong with that password and why it wouldnt let me install! I even got 100 out of 100 password score! Dont worry i didnt install composr so none of the details in the screen shot are correct, they were done to explain the error.

I installed it on another site, and stuck to what it says, i didnt use default but the score was 65 out of 100!! Please rethink this barmy policy and allow us to use more than one number or special character and more than one capital!!
Instead i had to do a really one and it still only got 65 points

Hi,

That does look wrong. We don't do the Softaculous packaging however. I'll point them to this topic.

Become a fan of Composr on Facebook or add me as a friend. Add me on on Twitter. Follow me on Minds (where I am most active). Support me on Patreon

  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about Composr whenever you see the opportunity or support me on Patreon.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying Composr on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Thanks Chris, i tried 4 different host providers and 6 servers, all give the same results. I suspect most who use softaculous to install stick with the default password, actually i know most do………..

I normally do a self install, but i was trying something a bit different and decided for speed to use softaculous.
Dont get me wrong, the fact its actually on that system will increase user numbers.

Its not the only package they have that installs incorrectly.

Hi,

Softaculous replied to me a few days ago and said:
"We have made required changes in the password policy."
And to wait 24 hours (but that was a few days back, so that time has already passed).

So things there should be fixed now.
