Hi gang, I'd like to use a catalog as a contact form, but not quiet sure how to go about it. I get creating the catalog, which I've done. I'm pretty sure about setting permissions so it dowsn't show up on the site. What I'm questionig is how to set it so that it dowsn't store the info in the database but send it out as a notification as the description in the dynamic block assistant refers to. Thanks so much.

Hi,

Once that block is in place, the user will fill in the block, and it will email the staff address. Nothing is stored because the block isn't tied into the catalogue saving code, just email code. It's use of catalogues doesn't go any further than using the catalogue's fields.

Ah, gotcha. That makes perfect sense when I think about it. One other thing has popped up. In one of my fields I'm wanting the user to select a choice from a list, ie,

Code

General|Classes|Reservations|Shipping|Website
, but it just shows up has N/A in the drop down list box. Isn't the

Code

|
what I'm suppose to use to delimit the choices?

Try making the field required.

I had. I went back and I've tried checking every box in every combination I can and still the same thing.

Hi,

Actually I can't reproduce. I definitely know N/A is an option if a field isn't required, as that's the way one denotes a blank field. But I just tested with required set and it was okay.

I'm happy to have a direct look on your site if you want to grant me admin access.

Best,
Chris

Hmmm, I just don't get it. I've even tried creating a new catalog. I can use the other fileds such as check boxes, but it still isn't letting me use select from a list. Unless it's an accessibility issue, which I can see it being, but I've seeen stranger things.

Hi,

I've corrected that.

So there were 2 issues…

1) The checkbox was a list box, as it wasn't set to required.

2) The listbox was showing empty as the "Field options" line was filled in with the list rather than the "Default value" line. That probably confused you as "Field options" is new in v10 and used for something else.

Ahh, gotcha. The one thing I didn't try, and yes that was a bit confusing. There were actually two different places. One was a checkbox, and the other was to be a list. But thank you muchly. I should've thought to use the default value area instead of the field that I filled in since I had used that feature in ocP before. Merry Christmas
