If having the white behind your banners on Composr is a bother, here's a quick fix for you.

Credit technically goes to Chris Graham for this little hack.

For some, like myself, you may find that the whiteness behind the banner at the top of your Composr pages is a bit detracting from your theme. And unfortunately this cannot be removed because it's actually a part of the website's body. However, here's an easy tutorial to make that white behind the banner become the color of your theme's seed instead. I think it looks better like that than it being white all the time.

1. Go to your admin zone.

2. Go to styles -> Themes

3. Edit the CSS of the themes you wish to apply this to

4. Choose global.css

5.

FIND

header {

6.

Inside the div before the closing bracket }, ADD

background-color: ;

7. Save the CSS

8. Clear caches.

9. Enjoy!

Thanks. For this, I've decided we will put the background color in explicitly to header in the default theme, so that it is easier for people to change in the future. Right now website_body inherits through to define the header background, which is understandably confusing.

While the above tip still works in Composr v10.

I need to set a specific color for the background of the header. I don't want to derive it from the seed color. So,…….

global.css

LINES:

488 header {
489      background-color: {$GET,main_background};

I tried changing the #ffffff color to #ff5cff  in the  main_background  of the global.css as below but no luck. still white background.
So what is the correct way and were to I change the background color of the header?

=========================
========Colours==========
=========================
*/

{$THEME_WIZARD_COLOR,#be00be,seed,100% be00be}
{$THEME_WIZARD_COLOR,#FFFFFF,WB,100% FFFFFF}
{$THEME_WIZARD_COLOR,#000000,BW,100% 000000}

{$THEME_WIZARD_COLOR,#f8e3f8,fixed_width_background,11% (seed sat_to 100) + 89% WB}
{$THEME_WIZARD_COLOR,#d763d7,fixed_width_border,61% seed + 39% WB}
{$THEME_WIZARD_COLOR,#ff5cff,main_background,100% WB}
{$THEME_WIZARD_COLOR,#ebebeb,main_2_background,92% WB + 8% BW}

Hi,

Did you edit using the inbuilt CSS editing tools? If not maybe you either edited the wrong file or have to empty the template cache.

Yes, I edited it using the inbuilt CSS editing tool.  But I did not empty the template cache.

So I am editing it in the right place? That's my question.

Oh, almost forgot.  If I wanted to disable the donation banner temporarily how do I go about doing that so it will not display?

Last thing.  The default newsletter subscription works halfway.

I can put an email in, it sends out the confirmation email fine. but it does not add me to the any of the newsletters at all? I can't find the email were I had subscribed. I checked every news letter group and my email is not there.

I checked ( General, Website Progress, Send to site members, Usergroup: Regular) and I'm not being subcribed to any of these?

The CSS editor automatically empties the template cache.

I can't see anything wrong with the change you made. Maybe you could include the whole of global.css in a code tag here (after you make the change), maybe then I'll see something.

Scratch that. I got it to work.  I confirmed via my mobile phone first. Well that didn't work.

I checked my email on my laptop and noticed that "staff@mydomain.com" was non-existent.  So I created "staff@mydomain.com" to be a valid email.  Then I logged in my email server with my pc and clicked the confirmation link again, ((( POW ))).  I was added to the newsletter.

$KingBast=King!

Thanks!:)

Just in case anyone else has this small issue. After Unvalidating the Banner I did the following to close the gaps so to speak, with comments of coarse.

I zeroed out the padding-top & padding-bottom.

Inside of "global.css

Code (css)

.global_banner {
    text-align: center;
    background: url('{$IMG;,banner_frame}') center top no-repeat;
    position: relative;

        top: -16px;

    padding-top: 0px;
    padding-bottom: 0px;
}
