How to place pictures as advertisements

I want to place pictures as advertisements on a right or left panel of the portal with html code, how to do that ?

Just edit the panel page (or use the zone editor), click the button to go into the WYSIWYG source code view, and paste in the code.
If you don't have WYSIWYG on then you need to put the HTML within Comcode 'html' or 'semihtml' tags.
