Image Optimising

The need for speed.
For those who have seen my site, you would have noticed it contains some big images.
Lets cover the 2 big ones.
The header image
The background image
So the size they were being hosted on my site:
Header = 226kb
background = 658kb
Having played around with a number of tools to get them smaller without a noticeable loss in quality I discovered:
TinyPNG – Compress WebP, PNG and JPEG images intelligently
Ignore the png in the title, it converts jpg files as well.
After using this site my new image sizes are:
Header = 59.2kb
Background = 130.5kb
This is a substantial decrease in size, and in turn a very noticeable performance boost.
