RC9 installed on Namecheap servers

I installed RC9 on Namecheap servers and localhost (Fedora); full install. Amateur programmer.

No issues with RC9 except something about "A POST request was made with a non-recognised security token…" I'll attach a picture. This warning has always shown up at this stage of installation. I just ignored it and continued with the installation. No other warnings or errors.

Comparing Composr to other CMS/Portals, I'd say, as I have in the past, that OCPortal/Composr is in a league of its own and could go viral soon as a leading tool for building social networks and other kinds of websites that bring people together. WP certainly is impressive because of the fonts and numerous plugins, but I've seen far too many WP sites hacked and then abandoned. Everyone knows that.

Now, if I could only figure out how to grow the scope of the Composr plugin called Activity Feed to include the ability of members to post pictures to the activity feed, as well as just text posts, I'd be all set.

With the token issue, I have thought hard again (and retested myself) and all I can think that would cause it are:

• Some kind of heavy caching, where the Setup Wizard front page is cached from another install (i.e. token was from whatever prior install first got it into the cache)
• The Setup Wizard was kept open from a past install while a new install went on in another tab/window/browser, then it was proceeded with (i.e. token for was prior install)
• The Setup Wizard was left on the first screen for over a day before clicking to continue. (i.e. token expired)

Yep, I think it's not an issue. I could track it down with some assert code or a packet sniffer, but I think it's a "one-off" situation. The issue expires at the next stage on installation. My Fedora is very old and could use an update. It doesn't inhibit installation. It was all I could find with regard to warnings on RC9 lol. Excellent software.

I don't think it could be related to old software or anything, I'd really like to know the cause.

I doubt it would just go away on only refreshing, you'd need to have clicked back, and then refreshed, then presumably going forward it would be working again. Is that what you did? Or, did you just hit enter on the address bar to skip sending POST data? That'd work too.

There should be a matching CSRF token (post_tokens table) in the database, like:

But the error is saying there isn't. I'm very curious of how it could be, if somehow it's not saving correctly into the table, if somehow they are wiping, if somehow some other progress is recreating that table in the background (maybe a second installer running in another tab could do it, if somehow were using multiple tabs for installation). I wonder how long it was between clicking to go through to the Setup Wizard and installation finishing, and how long to click that button. Because it's the very first post token the likely causes do seem to be either the setup wizard was opened before installation (i.e. for another install), or if some weird thing with multiple tabs was going on.

To me it's never really acceptable to ignore errors, at least until we confirm it's user-error.

Actually in the Activity Feed, oEmbed sometimes automatically converts links to images into image thumbs, clickable to expand to full size in an overlay window. In addition, a couple Comcode tags can be used in the feed to embed images, such as img and thumb.

The Activity Feed addon is very low scale at the moment. I have thoughts of possibly collaborating with Chris on expanding the Activity Feed plugin to be a more dignified feed addon, complete with commenting on items, "liking" items, and so on… using Conversr (cns_forum) as its backend.

I know it might not seem to be a big deal, but the ability to offer a "wall" feature, complete with the ability to post pictures, is a huge requirement for generic webmasters that build "social" sites. It's huge. Facebook didn't create the "facebook wall," but it's essential to people that want to build a social site. It's almost the sole hub of the site. Expanding the wall feature would be a big deal.

Composr's version of a "wall" would be the Activities tab of one's profile page. Again, it's very low scale… and I hope in the future I can get my knuckles cracking on expanding the entire addon complete with commenting, rating, Conversr integration, and… for addons such as downloads, galleries, calendar/events, and so on… the ability to create them from the feed/wall.

Rather than expand the activity addon, I think this is cool:

It's a different solution to the same end – making a simplified version of the forum that is much more like a Facebook Page.

This way we're not creating more and more ephemera within the ecosystem, we're taking something we already have and making it simpler for people. Most people don't benefit from a full forum nowadays.

(I noticed the reply corruption above also, this is fixed in RC9 I believe, we're just running RC8 here right now)

I like the idea, however in my personal opinion, it tosses out one important aspect of the Activities feed: statuses regarding content on the website. If we use an in-line forum, then won't forum posts/topics need to be created for statuses about content (eg. X person added something to 'gallery')? Not only that, but it could result in the issue of "commenting" on those items being replying to the in-line forum topic created for those items. Ideally, it should be a comment on the item itself (in this example, the gallery entry).

I think that way to handle that is not to use inline forums for actual statuses, but to instead just use Activity feed items for notifications about other things (perhaps including links to comment specifically on that item)
