The ocPortal Wikipedia page needs updating to reflect our new name and version. To comply with Wikipedia guidelines, I can't edit this myself or ask any of my staff to.

Could someone help us out please :)?

Composr CMS - Wikipedia

Pretty please .

EDIT: Oh, and we need to be referenced on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tapatalk also.

  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about Composr whenever you see the opportunity or support me on Patreon.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying Composr on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Singed up, had a look. Seems to be no way to edit the title of that page from ocPortal to Composr. I was going to create a new page for Composr then add a notice and link to the top of the ocPortal page. The link from the Tapatalk page should probably go to the new Composr page, as even if ocPortal supports TapaTalk it's not going to be relevant much longer anyway. Willing to create the new page and make the edits, but maybe you want to provide the details you would want on the new Composr page (as a lot has changed since ocPortal). Pretty sure just copying the existing page content isn't going to do it as much justice as it deserves.

It should be possible to rename the page. I'm pretty sure Wikipedia editors wouldn't want a separate page, as it's still the same product in the grander scheme of things.

I think we need to include:
  • Updated details (latest version)
  • Updating most instances of 'ocPortal' to 'Composr CMS'
  • That the rebrand has happened
  • Explaining that Composr CMS may be abbreviated to just Composr

A brand new page as decided on IRC chat. It probably needs some additional editing and no idea why it's got a lowercase c and no idea how to change it (requested the change in Talk). Added Composr: Coversr addon link to Tapatalk page. Added Composr link and info to ocPortal page.

Unfortunately Wikipedia indicates that the page violates their guidelines and it is marked for deletion. No notable sources added; labelled as promotional / advertising page instead of an Encyclopedia page.

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Composr - Wikipedia

  • Need support for version 10? The core development team is no-longer offering it for free (unless it's a critical bug that breaks your entire site or a serious security hole). Please consider hiring me instead if you need v10 support or a non-critical bug fix. Or, ask the community in the forums!
  • Do you enjoy Composr? Please consider contributing your talent to the project or recommending Composr to others. Even small contributions make a big impact in the Composr community.
  • Do you have feedback for us? You can report bugs, suggest features, or give feedback on the Free support options page.
  • Do you need professional service with your Composr website? Please consider contracting me for your needs through my company, PDStig, LLC. Doing so will also help fund Composr development.
  • Want to watch live streams of me developing Composr CMS? Please subscribe to me on Twitch to be notified when I stream. Composr development streams are usually spontaneous / not scheduled in advance as work priorities come first.

Yeah, someone jumped on it before I added any external links. It doesn't violate any guidelines (afaik) and another user has balanced it with a keep request. I very much doubt it will get deleted as links have been added and I have offered an explanation that the software is in beta which explains the lack of other external sources. It is no more promotional than the existing ocPortal page on which it is based, but yeah, time will tell. I suppose the upside of this is that we are getting free advertising on the articles for deletion page. Maybe that will bring some new users :P
