Composr 10 beta2 released
This news article has not yet been validated by our staff, so we cannot accept responsibility for it. You followed a direct link to get to it.
Version 10 beta2 has now been released. This version is a beta release of the next major version of Composr. Upgrading to this release is not recommended for live sites.
To upgrade follow the steps in your website's http://mybaseurl/upgrader.php script. You will need to copy the URL of the attached file (created via the form below) during step 3.
Your upgrade to version 10 beta2
You can generate an upgrader from any version of Composr to any other version. If you access this upgrade post via the version information box on your Admin Zone front page then we'll automatically know what version you're running.
If you'd prefer though you can enter in your version number right here:
All reported bugs since the last release have been fixed.
I agree with your point curtisbrew that only a single digits are able to be input in the first text box. Apart from that you can also generate an upgrader from any version of Composr to any other version.
This is also a beta version from 7 years ago. Composr 10 is very stable now, and the latest version, 10.0.43, can be downloaded from Download Composr - Composr .
We are working on version 11 though. Hope to have it in beta soon!

How would I go about upgrading to Composer 10 from ocPortal 9.0.22? My upgrade notification on my website's admin page just has a link to Composer's home page.
Read the first post in this thread, it has a link to the upgrade process. Best is a fresh install. Being this is a beta release, I would't use it on a production site yet. According to the time line (subject to change), I think the first stable release is due out in April (I can't find the timeline right now, so someone correct me if I'm wrong).

When using the composer upgrade form, you cannot enter version 10. Only single digits are able to be input in the first text box. Is a fresh install from beta1 to beta2 recommended, or can a patch file be generated?
Chris informed me that although the patch hasn't been tested and a fresh install is safest, there's basically supposed to be a patch available, but there's a bug in this upgrade form he will fix when he can. Not only can you only enter one number for the major version, but the form appends a 1 at the end of what you type in.

● does composr have push notification like javascript driven forums like nodebb? eg users are notified with an onscreen icon/sound and immediately see new forums posts without refreshing the page
● has designing a custom theme been simplified from ocportal 9?
v9 had configurable notifications for a range of content, but the way you get notified has been improved in v10. Not sure if Push notifications, but live notifications in the header. The Mobile SDK may do push notifications, as may the Tapatalk addon. Honestly not too sure,
Custom themes weren't particularly difficult in v9 if you had the time and inclination, not sure if it's easier in v10 but things have been improved across the board. I suggest you download the Beta and that may answer your questions more conclusively than I can.
The Composr patch release upgrade process has not yet been tested, so a fresh install is safest, but bug reports are welcome on the tracker: My View - Composr CMS feature tracker
